Doodlebug Baby

It's only me!
Back again to share with you another crafty make I've been working on for a friend of a friend who will be having a baby girl in the next couple of weeks. I haven't had a need to make a baby card in aages so quite enjoyed digging out my Doodlebug baby stamp set for a play.
I've used a variety of techniques here to make it a lil bit more interesting (am easily bored!).
I've used my Cuttlebug to emboss the cardstock and the pram wheels then to cut the Spellbinder die shapes. New idea: I've used some jump rings (normally used with my charms) to link the pram image to the sentiment! What do you think?
Oh, and the paper is a digi download from the 'digi dots' collection at www.cupcakecardcraft.co.uk

Here is a side view of the card which shows just some of the layering I did using different mm thickness of sticky foam pads- did get a tad carried away! Parts of the pram and sentiment have been 'glossy accented' but it's it hard to see that in these photos.

To my surprise I had the most fun creating the insert (weirdly enough!). I used the Spellbinder die cut (Labels 2) to create the frame, embossed it then inked up the edges by applying with 'Ranger' Cut n' Dry Foam - I find this much easier and less messy than doing it straight from the inkpad. As I don't have a slice punch, I created two slits with my craft knife and threaded the ribbon through and finished off with some of my favourite candy dots - not a bad result! lol

I'm off back to my crafty corner to now... tempted to open my new Scorpal! I shouldn't really as its an early b'day pressie from my nan...but...hmm... can I hold off until next Saturday?? ;O)

Oh, and one last thing! I am really fed up with the trimmer and guilotine I have. The guilotine is just a small XCut one which is useless for 12x12 papers and my Woodware Trimmer just can't handle cardstock. Soo...can anyone suggest a good tool to invest in that'll do handle big and small papers and cardstock??

xx

  3. Gorgeous card, love all the raised and hanging elements (those 'doodle dot' papers are great aren't they, really versatile) Love seeing attention given to the inside of cards too, really nicely finished :)
